Hello Again (A Love Letter)

December 18, 2011

(This is a note to me from my True Self, but it applies to all.  —Ven)

My dearest,

No one on this Earth loves you like your mother loved you. Even she didn’t love you like Spirit loves you. Why shouldn’t you love yourself the same?

Spirit is the guiding Force, Love, and Intelligence behind the Universe. The Universe can seem to be cruel and unforgiving because of where you are. In the end, though, if you look to Spirit to provide everything you need, It will reach you. It will reach out to you through the Universe, and through your own inner self.

You are draped in love and cradled in forgiveness. You are here! And you live. You make mistakes, you learn, and you conquer the wrongness within yourself. That is right, and it is good.

You are doing what is best for you to do, and that is best for the All. Who wouldn’t love you for such a thing? And yet, even if you didn’t do these things—and you don’t do them perfectly yet anyway—you would still be Loved.

What do you want for your children? To be held down and miserable, because of something they did in the past, still suffering even after they saw their error and went through the agony of correcting themselves—alone?

Would you want your children to live in guilt and unforgiveness because some other person doesn’t see the good inside them?

No!

You would want your children to move forward and step into new light and a new, better way of living. You would want them to have endured suffering, pain, and hardship so that they could earn an even greater and happier existence because of it.

You would want to see your children thrive.

You are the child of your mother. You are the child of the Universe. You are the child of Spirit Itself. You are beloved. You have no need to go on in misery, doubt, and self-blame. No one who loves you wants this for you.

Why can’t you see this? (The ego talking.)

Don’t listen to the ego. Listen to the truth: you are worthy of love and you are worthy to be loved. You carry love within you and it is your right to share it with the world around you. If there is a part of your world that does not accept your love, withdraw it.  Remove yourself from that negative influence and focus your love where it can grow and produce more love.

Where is that? (The ego talking.)

It’s all around you. It’s everywhere. Even people who don’t know you well have given you their support and encouraging words. If they can see your goodness, how much more will someone who truly knows you see your goodness?

Do not limit yourself to satisfy some long-lost directive given by someone with lesser understanding, long ago. You know what is best, and you know what to do. Step out, in faith, and let go. Remember, you have wings! You will fly.

How do I stay positive? (The ego talking.)

Focus on the positive in your life and eliminate the negative. Change whatever you have to in order to live well. Free yourself from the chains that you allow to bind you! You have that power. You know it.

And remember: you are loved, no matter what.

So, my beloved, Hello! Welcome to the Universe again. You are welcome here, and there is much help to guide you along the way. You have no need to fear. You need only take the first step from where you are.

Do not let that which matters most drown in the puddle of that which matters not. There are mountains to be moved. Move them!

Hello, and welcome back.

Love,

Me

You Are a Porthole

October 20, 2011

Imagine an enormous cruise ship. You could land an airliner on it if it had a runway. It could have its own public transportation system. It wouldn’t fit through the Panama Canal. An Arab sheik would look at it and say, “That’s too much ship for me!”

All around the ship’s hull, like billions of reflective eyes, are row upon row of glass portholes that provide a view from the innards of the ship to the outside world. This ship has a name: the U.S.S. Universe. It has a single occupant: Captain Consciousness. And it has these billions of portholes all around it.

You might ask, “Where do I fit in this scenario?”

You are one of those portholes.

The glass in that portholes is your individual being—the flesh, the body that houses the Life within—an integral part of the living Universe, just as the porthole is part of the ship! This is the “you” that has a name and hair color and family members.  It’s the temporary you, the “Earth you.”  It is the Earth’s contribution (via your ancestors) to the miracle that is your life, here and NOW.

Captain Consciousness sees and experiences the world “outside” by looking and experiencing through the portholes—in this case, through you.  That Consciousness is your True Self.

There is also a “fake you” that inhibits the view of Consciousness as It looks outward through the porthole glass (you).  This is the “ego” or false self that most human beings mistake for their “real” selves.  In our scenario of the massive ship, the “fake you” is a smudge on the glass.  It might even be a thick layer of dark, sticky gunk covering most of the glass.

If you direct your attention outward, you see through your false self. If you direct your attention inward, you see into your True Self.  This is a simple and easy way to remember who “you” are…and that’s one of the main purposes of your life here on Earth.

Our Spirit Is God

October 13, 2011
One limiting thought I used to have is: “It is wrong to try to be like God.” But that is my nature! Ever since I was born, people have been doing their best to limit me, to make me something less than I am. I deserve to receive the power of God in me because I have the desire, ability, talent, and goodness necessary to become a powerful force of good in this world and to express the Divine in my life and my society.

It is not wrong to want the fullness of God to express Itself through you.

All I know about life culminates in what I’m learning now. I can recognize Truth and falsehood. This is not of the devil. There is no devil. That was a made-up fairy tale character. There is certainly no evil that approaches the power of Good. Real evil is weak and temporary, and my purpose in life is to end it. So, now I will become more like God every day of my life, just as I have been becoming for as long as I remember. Now, with my greater understanding, people will help me along, not hinder me!

I’ve had wrong ideas about God because of the religious images associated with the word/name “God” in Christianity. I must remember that it is God—my God—I see in the sunset, in the clouds moving across the sky, in the trees, in the cat, and in my loved ones. It is God who guides me and whose voice I recognize as my intuition. God is not Jehovah. God is the Universe. God is Life. I do know God, so I need to remove all my false ideas about It.

God is the Spirit within me—and you. That Spirit is our True Self.

Man is the highest known expression of Spirit in flesh. Man’s eventual purpose is to express all the qualities of Spirit fully. He does this gradually, through his own evolution, which is a conscious process of reaching upward and outward, so to speak, both toward and as an expression of the Spirit living through him. The more he allows the Spirit’s expression, the higher he raises his consciousness, the more he evolves, and the more like Spirit he becomes.

Spirit is man. To express Spirit means to allow the qualities of Spirit to flow through you. Jesus—the “Son of Man”—was an example of this very powerful state, and that’s what he was trying to tell us.

The “Kingdom of God” is near indeed!  It is within us, just as the Master said.

Bare Feet, Water, and the Tile Floor of Life

October 11, 2011

Bare feet and dry tile are a safe combination. Your feet firmly grip the stone surface and you can move about with confidence. When your feet are wet, though, there’s an added layer between you and the tile—a dangerous layer—and you can slip.

Your life is the same way.

As long as you’re in touch with the “real you,” you’re on a firm and solid foundation, just like being on dry tile. But watch out for the “fake you.” This is the collection of beliefs, opinions, impressions, and so on that you think is you, but is really a figment of your imagination.

This “fake you” only serves to separate you from the “real you”—like water separates feet from tile—while making you ineffective and miserable at the same time.

So how do you know the difference between the “real you” and the “fake you”? The answer is your feelings. The “real you” naturally feels freedom, love, joy, exhilaration, and appreciation. The “real you” thrives! It’s the “part” of you that wants to go out and LIVE. It sees the world as a vast ocean of potential experiences and growth. It has no fear.

The “fake you” feels fear, anxiety, depression, doubt, and other negative emotions. It’s the “part” of you that wants to stay home instead of risk failure. It wants to return to the womb and avoid what bad things might happen in life. It desperately avoids its own demise, even though its demise would mean your rebirth!

The “real you” has no fear, because it knows it cannot die. The “fake you” keeps you in death, even though you live—because its base is fear.  If you know the difference, you can tread confidently in life, with less fear of slipping.

How to Find Your True Self

October 9, 2011

The false beliefs, opinions, impressions, and ideas that you carry in your mindset are the source of your unhappiness. They not only distort your perception of yourself and the world around you; they also conflict with each other, thus negating some of your creative energy (which, in a happy person, “flows” freely).

These things in their entirety form what you might call a false self, which you might incorrectly identify as your true self.

You can increase your level of happiness by 1) identifying the false beliefs, attitudes, and so on and 2) deleting their effect on your present life by recognizing when they entered your experience (likely when you were a child or youth).

A good way to do this is to learn a good self-hypnosis technique and learn to follow the path of a present problem or false idea backward (through similar events in your past where the same problem appeared) to the original event.

Meditation can be useful to achieve this mental state, too—whatever you do to put your body at rest, while maintaining conscious mental focus.

You will find your level of happiness increasing each time that you identify and do away with a present problem. You will also feel more “enlightened” with each jump in happiness. Your true self is naturally happy, and it’s who you really are when you remove the trash you’ve collected in your mindset—trash which obscures your view of yourself and life.
